I started PULSE.digital in 2013, in Lausanne. I did not start by thinking it over. I went out to find clients, and I brought them solutions. The rest came by doing: a first office, the first lines of code, clients who stayed.
Thirteen years later, I have two companies, and they are not in the same business. This article is here to say things simply: what PULSE.digital is, what mm-origin is, and why I am so happy with the first just as I launch the second.
PULSE.digital first
In 2015, I met Youssef Soulaim in Marrakech. He had his digital company, I had mine. Same trade, two markets that complement each other. We teamed up and founded PULSE.digital Maroc. We have talked every day since.
In 2019, PULSE.academy started training tech talent in Morocco. In 2022, we stopped doing everything. We kept one thing: building integrated tech teams for our clients. What we did badly, we dropped. What we did well, we kept.
In 2024, we brought it all together as a group: headquarters in Bussigny, a tech centre of excellence in Marrakech, more than 80 people. For us, Switzerland and Morocco are a pair. Same language, same standards. The client sees one team, not two countries.
Happy, and why
I am happy with PULSE.digital. Really. Not because of the numbers, even though they are there: more than 80 people, more than 300 projects.
I am happy about things you do not put in a report. Developers who turn down better-paid offers to stay. Clients who have been with us since 2013. Growth that comes from clients coming back, not from a pitch to investors. That cannot be bought.
And I am happy about the people. Youssef and the leadership team run the house day to day: Sullivan Tronchet on sales, Ahmed Samba on finance, Mahdi Laarej on delivery, Amine Soulaim as country manager, Mohamed Benchekroun as lead developer. I name them because PULSE.digital, day after day, is them and the whole team.
So, thank you. To Youssef, whom I have talked to every day for more than ten years. To the leadership team. To everyone who makes PULSE.digital.
What does not change
I remain a board member, shareholder and employee of PULSE.digital. My PULSE.digital clients know me, and I am still there for them. On that side, nothing moves.
What moves is in my head. I have other challenges, other explorations, beyond PULSE.digital alone. And I like doing business: with two companies, I have two ways to do it, and I am glad I can run both.
I am not starting from scratch. I am starting with thirteen years behind me, and PULSE.digital at my side.
Two businesses
The difference fits in one sentence: PULSE.digital is paid to build. mm-origin is a partner in what it builds.
PULSE.digital builds for its clients, and what it builds belongs to them. mm-origin builds its own products, and co-founds products with people who know their market better than anyone. It takes its share of the risk. And of the success.
| PULSE.digital | mm-origin | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A Swiss tech engineering group, more than 80 people | My holding company, and a software publisher |
| What it does | Builds integrated tech teams for its clients | Builds my products, and co-founds other people’s |
| How it earns a living | Clients pay for the work of its teams | Its software, and its share in what it co-founds |
| Who runs it | Youssef and the leadership team, day to day | Me |
| Who it is for | A company that needs an engineering team | Someone who knows their market and wants a partner |
mm-origin is me. When I build, I surround myself: PULSE.digital experts, outside specialists when needed, my network. The two companies do not step on each other. PULSE.digital is, in fact, part of the mm-origin portfolio.
Looking for a team? That is PULSE.digital. Looking for a partner? That is mm-origin.
And if you send me a pitch that is really a job for PULSE.digital, I will tell you straight, and get you an offer from PULSE.digital. Nobody leaves without a real answer.
Why mm-origin
For years, I spent my time serving other people’s products. I enjoyed it, and I still do. But I never really owned up to making my own.
Then AI came into my life. I have always loved building with code. What bored me was the syntax, and the time it took. Total boredom. With AI, that brake came off. I wanted to create my own things.
In fact, I had already started without saying so. To run PULSE.digital, I needed tools. I built them. The first was the PULSE.digital Cockpit, the screen we use to run the group. It became Origin OS. Origin OS tells me how much cash is left, what each project really earns, who is working on what, what is holding up the monthly close. It runs my holding company, and it runs at a construction business. Simple Goals links my three-year goals to what I am doing this week. And the PULSE.digital team queries Odoo every day from their AI assistant, with MCP Odoo.
These tools became mm-origin’s first products. If a tool does not serve me, I do not sell it.
And I do not want to stop at my own tools. I want to create useful digital things, for me and for others. There are people who have the market, the clients, the credibility, and who lack the team that builds and the machine that sells. They bring the market. I bring the product, the tech, the growth, with the right team.
Capital can be found. Execution cannot. I do not bring a cheque, I bring what a cheque cannot buy: a team that has already built. mm-origin is not a fund, an incubator or a consultancy. I take on few projects a year, so I can truly commit to each one.
Being there at the origin
MM are my initials. Origin is where I want to be: at the moment everything is decided. A product is not born from a market study. It is born from a real need. At PULSE.digital, it was the needs of the clients I went out to find in 2013. At mm-origin, it was mine.
What makes me say yes to a project is simple: the market, the skills, the enjoyment, good chemistry, and an idea I believe in. If you know your market better than anyone and you have seen a real need, write to me. Or better: record me a message.
